September: The Month Charlotte Comes Outdoors

Festival in the Park — September 25-27, Freedom Park: One of Charlotte's most beloved annual traditions, now in its 62nd year. More than 200 artists and vendors fill Freedom Park for a weekend of art, crafts, live music, and food in one of the city's most beautiful settings. Free admission, family-friendly, and genuinely worth the trip. About 15 minutes from East Charlotte.

Charlotte Film Festival — September 26-27, Independent Picture House: A weekend-long festival showcasing documentaries and special screenings from established and emerging filmmakers at one of Charlotte's most distinctive venues. A great date night or solo outing for film lovers.

Around the Crown 10K — September 6, Uptown Charlotte: One of Charlotte's most popular road races, winding through Uptown's streets along I-277. Whether you're running or cheering, it's a great early-fall morning event in the city.

Scarowinds begins September 11: Carowinds transforms from a theme park into the largest Halloween-themed event in the Carolinas, running select nights through November 1.
